Digital Media and Dance: A Collaboration of Artists and Scientists

In 2003, I began a collaboration with choreographer Karola Lüttringhaus and the alban elved dance company. The purpose of our collaboration is to create novel dance productions that weave together art and science. We see this as a way of introducing science to dance lovers; sharing the artistic beauty of motion with science/math types; and exciting audiences in general with new ideas and innovative choreography. My role has been to suggest themes related to computer science and to help integrate these elements into modern dance with digital imagery, sound, text, and poetry. Details...
